Marko Spalatin “Nautica IX” Serigraph (1982)

Marko Spalatin was born in 1945 in Zagreb, Croatia before immigrating to the U.S. in his late teens. He has been featured in over 70 solo exhibitions in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. His work is found in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Musée d’Art Moderne, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art.

“Nautica” is a portfolio of 12 serigraphs from 1982, printed on archival paper and signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition of 80. The piece is number 9 in the Nautica series and is titled “Nautica IX”. It depicts an abstract geometric image of a manta ray.

Paper is 25” x 29” and is presented in a white metal frame with white matte. (Framed print is 25.5” x 30” x 1”.) There are very minor scuffs to the frame. Came from the estate of Robert Gamm, the inventor of Kangaroos sneakers. (Back of frame stamped “Property of Robert J. Gamm”.)
